Academics
At PCS our academic programs are college-preparatory. We expect our students to graduate from high school and go on to college. The college enrollment rate for our graduates is consistently above 90% -- and many years, is close to 100%. From preschool through high school graduation, we prepare our students for the next step.
At PCS our academic programs are standards-based. Teaching, learning, and assessments all focus on accepted educational standards of what students are expected to know and be able to do at specified grade levels. Standards adopted by Portland Christian Schools meet or exceed the minimum standards of the state of Oregon.
At PCS our academic programs are anchored in a biblical world view. We make a conscious effort to teach every subject area from a biblical perspective. Our educational programs and methods of instruction are dependent on a Biblical philosophy to provide background truth and biblical principles for interpreting facts in the study of any and every subject. In an attempt to develop truly educated students with a solid biblical worldview and critical thinking skills, we expose our students to a variety of viewpoints within each academic discipline. We believe that truth, having nothing to fear from investigation, should be vigorously pursued at every opportunity.
At PCS our academic programs are empowered by exceptional faculty. Our faculty is made up of credentialed, well educated, motivated, and caring individuals. Each and every member of our faculty is a strong role model of an intelligent, compassionate Christian.
