Welcome to our new Principal!
Welcome to Mr. Jim Hill, our new Jr./Sr. High School Principal.
Jim brings with him 25 years of experience in the field of education. He began his teaching career at East Linn Christian Academy in Lebanon, Oregon in 1987. In 1989 he added men’s basketball coach to his duties, and in 1991, Athletic Director. He continued to teach a wide variety of subjects at East Linn, including math, science, history, and Bible. In 2002 he completed his Master’s of Science degree in Educational Administration at Capella University. While working on this degree he was promoted to Principal at East Linn. Within five years, he was promoted to Superintendent. East Linn Christian Academy flourished under Jim’s prayerful guidance and leadership.
With a restructure at East Linn in 2011, Jim moved to Hosanna Christian Academy in Klamath Falls. After a one year interim as Elementary Principal and Assistant Superintendent at Hosanna, Jim took the opportunity to move to Portland Christian this year. Jim sees himself as an educator at heart and is looking forward to once again interacting with students and developing teachers. His true forte is the academic arena and he eagerly anticipates teaming with PCS to further develop our educational programs to help students prepare for college, grow spiritually, and succeed in life. Jim tells me that Portland Christian Schools is exactly where he wants to be, and serving as Jr./Sr. High School Principal is exactly what he wants to do!
Jim is a family man who practices godly leadership. He and Lori have been married for 29 years. Together they have brought up two boys. JD, the oldest, is married, has blessed his parents with a grandson, and follows in his father’s footsteps as a teacher. The younger, Parker, will be a sophomore at Oregon State University this year, studying engineering. Jim’s hobbies include basketball, camping, and competitive bass fishing.
Jim has committed his life to impacting the next generation for the kingdom through the educational process. His commitment is not only to an idea, but also to real people. In fact, he still continues to mentor and grow students who have long ago graduated from East Linn. He is passionate about education and improving programs that enrich students.
His leadership is a way of life and his passion for excellence in education will be a stronghold here at Portland Christian. He sees his work in education as a fulfillment of God’s calling on his life for His purpose. His life verse is Romans 8:28 -- “And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are the called according to His purpose.”
Jim is in the office throughout the summer. Please feel free to stop by the school to introduce yourself and welcome him to Portland Christian.
