Intellectual, spiritual, and emotional growth is an important aspect of each student’s time at PCS. In addition to providing academic counseling, the Department of Academic Advising and Student Support Services creates an environment of support and learning. Our offices at the Elementary and Jr/Sr High School campuses are a place where students are welcomed and valued.
Realizing that students may have different academic needs that may not be met during classroom time, PCS has created various types of support and after school options. These options do not require appointments and have no extra fees.
Tutoring
Sports practice times are scheduled to start at 4:00 pm so student-athletes have time to meet with teachers after school.
Students are encouraged to seek additional academic assistance from their teachers each day from 3:20-3:45 pm. This time should be planned for by the teacher, student, and parent. It is intended for homework, to make-up a test, to have a paper reviewed and edited, to work on a large project, to review vocabulary or concepts, get organized, read a book, or to address any other academic needs of the student. This time can be required by a teacher if a student is falling behind in class.
Library
The school library remains staffed from 3:20 to 4:00 pm so students may study and do homework in a quiet space.
Student Lounge
The Student Lounge is open after school, providing another space for study and doing homework. The Student Lounge also includes supervised recreation opportunities such as board games and ping pong tables, and the Student Store has snacks available for purchase.
