Elementary Extra-Curriculars

The elementary school years are a great time to discover and begin developing children’s interests and talents. Extra-curricular activities at Portland Christian serve as an extension of our academic curriculum. As students advance in school, these activities also demonstrate their ability to contribute, stick to their commitments, and manage their time and priorities.

Fine Arts

Students receive dedicated Music instruction and Art instruction each week, and have opportunities to perform throughout the year:

  • Christmas program
  • Talent festivals
  • Grade-level chapel performances
  • Student Art Showcase
  • 5th grade STOMP performance
  • 4th and 5th grade spring musical
  • 4th and 5th grade Band (optional elective)

Sports

Sports are offered throughout the school year:

  • Cross Country
  • Volleyball
  • Basketball
  • Track & Field
  • Baseball

Peer Ministry

Leadership Development Program for 3rd – 5th grade

After School Clubs

  • Lego Engineering Club
  • Chess Club
  • Folk Dance

Field Trips

  • Visit a pumpkin patch and the zoo (kindergarten)
  • Visit the Hoyt Arboretum
  • Visit the Rice Rock Museum
  • 4th grade visits Fort Vancouver, and also re-enacts the Oregon Trail
  • 5th grade visits Biz Town, a Junior Achievement trip
  • Attend plays and musical performances
