Volunteer

“I am eternally grateful for my children’s spiritual journey as well as my own growth through volunteering and attending school events.”

— PCS High School Parent

PCS is a place where families are involved! Portland Christian Schools absolutely could not function without the dedicated and wholehearted service of our students’ families. We are blessed to have a school culture where people help each other feel connected and welcome, and help maintain our quality programs and facilities so that each student’s educational experience is exceptional. It’s something we hear cited again and again when we ask parents why they chose Portland Christian Schools: PCS is a family.

Family service has been a PCS tradition for over 75 years. We depend on volunteers to support our programs, activities, and events. The service expectation for a K-12 family is thirty (30) volunteer hours per year.

Our campus Parent Committees lead many of our volunteer efforts. The committees meet every month during the school year and all current PCS parents and guardians are welcome. Our goal is for all parents and guardians to be actively participating in school activities in some capacity.

There are many ways to get involved, including helping in the classroom, working at athletic events, coaching, helping in the offices and kitchens, chaperoning field trips, serving on committees, supporting events, building, painting, landscaping … and more. Watch for volunteer signups sent by the school offices and featured in our school e-newsletter, or contact your school office to get connected. We are confident that there is a volunteer opportunity that will appeal to you!

  • Any family member, including grandparents, aunts, uncles, and even family friends, may volunteer.
  • For the welfare of our students, everyone working with children and youth at PCS, including volunteers, must pass a background check, and must complete our adult/youth contact training annually.

At PCS we strive to teach students to be community-minded believers whose actions and interactions prove that they demonstrate a sense of responsibility by serving at school, in the church, and in the community. Thank you for helping us model responsible, service-oriented practices and for joining the PCS tradition of family involvement and support – a tradition that has sustained Portland Christian Schools since its founding in 1947.
