Félicitations à nos lauréats du Le Grand Concours 2024

Three PCS French 1 & 3 class students who took the National French Contest/Le Grand Concours exam earlier this year have received a gold medal and honorable mention certificates. “By hearing it, you’ll learn more,” shares gold medalist, Gabriel Vargas-Avalos about his first year in French 1.

“Le Grand Concours” is the National French Contest, “an annual competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French. Students of French in grades 1-12, in all 50 states and abroad, take a written test and compete against students with similar educational background for prizes.” (https://www.frenchteachers.org/about-the-concours)

French teacher Mdm Olivia Stearns is excited to share the following!

“Although not all my students got awards, they all worked really hard and their knowledge of, and proficiency in, French has greatly improved over the course of the year. I am so proud of every one of them!

Gold Award (summa cum laude): Gabriel Vargas-Avalos – 11th grade  (French 1)

Magna cum laude: Jack Mazurowski – 11th grade (French III), Ann-Christine Do – 11th grade (French III), Noah Humphrey – 10th grade (French III)

Gabriel chose French because of its similarity to his mother tongue, Spanish, and believes that’s why he’s enjoyed learning the language. He also ascribes the ease with which he’s been able to learn the language because of Mdm Stearn’s helpfulness to him and his classmates.

Congratulations to all our students!
